According to the San Juan County Assessor, the 2007 property tax rates ranged between approximately $3.97 and $6.64 per each $1,000 of assessed property value, depending on the island one lives on and the services it offers.

Therefore, if your home on San Juan Island (outside of Friday Harbor), had a tax assessed value of $500,000, you could divide that by 1,000 and multipy by 6.64 to determine your approximate annual tax. $500,000 ÷ 1,000 x 6.64 = $3,320.
