There is a great variety of people in the San Juan Islands who spend their time doing a great variety of things. Some fun and interesting jobs or aspects of them in particular to note are:

• The painter that goes to his job site on Friday Island via a canoe
• The bus driver who periodically sees whales along her route
• The inconspicuous company that makes filters for NASA
• Commuting to work via boat or plane to/from an outer island
• Realtors who get to take a boat to show outer island property or take their clients fishing or kayaking.
